Stockland has officially opened its new Lake Foreshore precinct at The Gables, creating a vibrant waterfront destination for residents and visitors in Sydney’s north-west Hills District.

Spanning more than 20,000 square metres, the Lake Foreshore features 160 metres of boardwalks, five playgrounds, a basketball half-court, picnic areas, accessible pathways and expansive green open space, providing new opportunities for recreation, relaxation and community connection.

Located alongside The Gables’ new retail town centre, the Lake Foreshore further enhances the community’s growing network of parks, playgrounds, sporting facilities and public spaces.

Local resident Selena Shirazian said her family chose to call The Gables home because it offered the perfect balance of convenience and lifestyle.

“We wanted to settle somewhere that gave our family the best of both worlds – great schools and transport, while still feeling connected to nature and close enough to enjoy places like the beach,” Ms Shirazian said.

“The Lake Foreshore is another reason we love living here. It gives the kids room to run around and explore, while we can relax and enjoy quality time together outdoors.

“What makes it even better is having the cafés and shops right alongside it. Instead of choosing between taking the kids to the park or grabbing a coffee, we can do both, making it an easy and enjoyable place for the whole family to spend time together.”

Stockland General Manager of Masterplanned Communities NSW and ACT, Sophie Ale, said the Lake Foreshore is a significant addition to The Gables, creating a destination where people can enjoy the outdoors, stay active and connect with one another.

“As our community continues to grow, we’re focused on delivering the parks, public spaces and infrastructure that help make The Gables a connected, convenient and vibrant place to live,” Ms Ale said.

The official opening was celebrated on Sunday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Member for Hawkesbury Robyn Preston and The Hills Shire Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne, followed by a community celebration.

More than 4,000 people attended the event, enjoying children’s activities, pet-friendly entertainment, face painting, food vendors and live performances.

Ms Preston said high-quality public spaces play an important role in building connected communities and enhancing the long-term liveability of the Hills District.

“Open space has always been a high priority for our community, and I am sure this lakeside precinct will be warmly welcomed by Gables residents and visitors alike. It is a precinct to be proud of,” she said.

Dr Byrne said the opening of the Lake Foreshore marks an important milestone for The Gables and the wider Box Hill community.

“This new foreshore will provide opportunities for recreation, connection and relaxation, creating lasting benefits for residents and future generations alike,” Dr Byrne said.

The Gables Lake Foreshore is located at 4 Lakefront Crescent, Gables, and is now open to the public.
