Community groups, environmental organisations and local councils across Australia are being encouraged to apply for funding through the 2026 Healthy Cities Landcare Grants Program, which has officially opened for applications.
Following another successful year in 2025, the program, delivered by Landcare Australia in partnership with Bupa Australia, will provide grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 (excluding GST) to support native planting projects in urban and peri-urban communities.
Eligible applicants include Landcare groups, Bushcare, Coastcare and other community-led environmental organisations, local councils, natural resource management organisations, not-for-profit groups, Traditional Owners and First Nations organisations, and State and Territory Landcare bodies.
The program aims to create healthier, greener communities while improving biodiversity and encouraging people to connect with nature.
The 2025 program delivered impressive results nationwide, supporting the planting of more than 123,000 native trees, shrubs and groundcovers. More than 6,200 people participated in environmental activities through 188 community events, helping restore wildlife habitat, improve urban biodiversity and strengthen community connections.
The Healthy Cities Landcare Grants Program forms part of Bupa’s Healthy Cities initiative, which focuses on creating healthier environments and stronger communities.
Landcare Australia CEO, Dr Shane Norrish, said the partnership continues to deliver meaningful outcomes for communities across the country.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to see this partnership with Bupa go from strength to strength,” Dr Norrish said.
“After another successful year delivering meaningful outcomes for communities across the country, including planting more than 123,000 native trees, shrubs and groundcovers, we’re excited to build on that momentum in 2026.
“We’re proud to work alongside Bupa, whose ongoing commitment recognises the strong connection between healthy environments and healthy people, particularly in our urban communities.”
Bupa Asia Pacific Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, Roger Sharp, said local community groups continue to make a significant difference.
“While Landcare and community groups often operate at a local level, their impact can be far-reaching,” Mr Sharp said.
“We’re excited to continue the program in 2026, helping create and improve accessible green spaces that encourage people of all ages to get active, connect socially and enjoy the benefits of nature.
“Supporting these grassroots efforts is a meaningful way for us to help people live longer, healthier and happier lives.”
Applications for the 2026 Healthy Cities Landcare Grants Program are now open and close at 5pm AEST on Monday, 13 July 2026.
