Celebrate a Big Year of Firsts at Hawkesbury Fest

July 6, 2026

Get ready for a fantastic day out as Hawkesbury Fest returns on Sunday, August 9, from 10am to 3pm at Governor Phillip Park, Windsor.

Held annually during Local Government Week, Hawkesbury Fest is a free community event celebrating everything that makes the Hawkesbury special. The festival showcases the work of Hawkesbury City Council and its community partners through interactive displays, informative exhibits and family-friendly activities.

This year’s event promises plenty of entertainment, including local markets, community stalls, emergency services displays, live performances, food vendors, a giant slide and activities for all ages.

One of the biggest changes for 2026 is the closure of George Street between Palmer Street and the Windsor Boat Ramp, allowing market stalls to extend along the roadway. The new layout will improve accessibility and create a more enjoyable experience for visitors. Please note that access to and from the boat ramp will be unavailable between 6am and 6pm on the day.

For the first time, Hawkesbury Fest will also feature a dedicated Sports Zone. Visitors can test their skills on a fun parkour course and meet local sporting clubs representing netball, cricket, AFL, soccer and swimming.

Dogs are welcome provided they remain on a leash, and plenty of free parking will be available.

Council’s Events Team has worked hard to make Hawkesbury Fest 2026 the most accessible event yet. Features include accessible parking, toilets and change facilities, a free accessible shuttle bus operating between Windsor Railway Station, Kable Street and the event, a quiet sensory space, communication boards and a social story available before the event.

A dedicated quiet hour from 10am to 11am will also reduce loud music and announcements to support visitors with sensory needs. The Events Team is also part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative.

Hawkesbury Mayor Les Sheather said the festival is an opportunity to celebrate the people, services and organisations that make the region such a great place to live.

“Hawkesbury Fest is a fun and informative day out for the whole family, with markets, information stalls, an exciting new sporting zone, entertainment, food and activities for all ages,” Mayor Sheather said.

“Council is currently undertaking the largest works program in our history, and Hawkesbury Fest provides a great opportunity for residents to learn more about these projects and speak directly with our staff.

“Our community service organisations and emergency services partners will also be there, giving visitors the chance to learn more about the important role they play in supporting and protecting our community.”

Council is encouraging visitors to help reduce waste by bringing reusable shopping bags, water bottles and coffee cups. Council’s Waste Heroes team will be on hand throughout the day to assist with waste sorting and recycling.

As NSW’s largest Local Government Week celebration, Hawkesbury Fest is expected to attract around 10,000 visitors.
